Next Delivery Day: Monday 16 January
[Orders Close: Sunday 15 January 6pm]

In part one of this blog, I shared how I picked a word that would guide me through the year to achieve what I set my mind to, without burning out. That word was ‘evolution’. As you know, ever since I chose ‘evolution’ as opposed to ‘growth’ I’ve never looked back.

And in this article, I will continue to list all the ways ‘evolution’ has transformed both my business and my life for the better.

At first, our EasyFit kitchen would operate once a week. All meals were prepared and packaged in a single day. But as demand grew, I once again had to evolve. Cooking once a week had to change to cooking twice a week. And with that change, came many other logistical changes, such as order-taking and delivery logistics. We simply couldn’t deliver meals once a week anymore and we couldn’t prepare the meals once a week either.

I then had to ‘evolve’ again because the equipment we used initially was no longer enough and had to be replaced. This meant purchasing an additional stove cooker, a refrigerated van for deliveries all across Pert, and a commercial dehydrator for the jerky. You see, initially, we made beef jerky in small batches which would take a huge amount of time. Thanks to the commercial dehydrator, we can make big amounts of delicious beef jerky in under six hours.

Choosing ‘evolution’ has also led me to other very significant accomplishments: using task management software to stay ahead of tasks and make sure deadlines are not missed, using teleconferencing software (Zoom) to run business meetings from home, doing business photoshoots and learning how to pose for professional photos as well as learning how to speak on-camera.

So focusing on ‘evolution’ as opposed to focusing on ‘growth’ has allowed me to learn new skills, grow my business without burning out, hire more people who are aligned with my values and vision, stretch my comfort zone, and more importantly has allowed me to increase my capacity and capabilities without burning out.

So 2023 is going to look very different from 2022. I can see my business grow, while still having a personal life and being the mum I want to be, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. I’ve finally put an end to the typical ‘all or nothing’ approach and replaced it with a single word: Evolution, which guides me through the ups and downs of having a business and a family. This is how I have chosen to make 2023 count.

So if you want to make 2023 count, choose a word, a single theme, and focus on it throughout the year, no matter what life throws at you.

I want to end this blog post with further tips to help you make 2023 count.

First, don’t sacrifice yourself for success. You are your biggest asset so you need to protect yourself, be kind to yourself and nurture yourself first. If you sacrifice yourself, you burn out, become despondent and end up giving up on your hopes and dreams because there’s no more energy left in you to pursue them. In other words, take care of yourself first before taking care of others and taking care of your business. To reach success, you need to become your first priority.

Secondly, surround yourself with people who know more than you. You can’t learn new skills if the people you hang out with, know what you already know. I realized that surrounding myself with people who knew things I didn’t know was going to be the key for me if I wanted to achieve what I set my mind to. Because when you stop learning, you don’t just stagnate, you actually start going backward.

Thirdly, choose to have people who not only know more than you do but who also are aligned with your values and your vision. You can surround yourself with the smartest people in the world, but if their values and their vision clash with yours, you will never be able to benefit from their knowledge.

By implementing these three key tips over the past few months, I have accomplished many things I’m very proud of.

I’m proud of my team, especially when watching Margarita during the photoshoot, and how much she was in the flow and in her element in the kitchen. I’m also proud of when our food photographer took pictures of all the meals we’ve been making for the past 7 years and made them look really fancy and super appetizing. I’m proud of watching my mum give a talk about me in such a loving way. I’m proud of my own journey and how far I’ve come in just ten years. When I started EasyFit, I was in a situation where I didn’t know if I was going to be able to afford to feed my children. I’m also very proud of the way I’ve learned to navigate new technology, understand tech-related lingo and manage many business tasks on the go through my phone with ease. Lastly, I’m proud that I’ve been able to make a difference in women’s lives. I’ve enjoyed seeing women of all ages, from all walks of life, reach their health and fitness goals no matter what their circumstances were and no matter where they started their journey from. I’ve loved hearing about how much EasyFit has allowed them to free up their time, and how much their weight loss or their improved fitness has given them much more confidence.

I am living proof that you can have it all. You can have a busy professional life, be there for your family, maintain a healthy lifestyle and make a difference in other people’s lives.
